ed & sophie are only the second family to own this house, after it was established c.1900 by the first owner, a master builder of Northampton. 100 years later the couple also run a building firm, and managed the project to completion using their own team

partial demolition works took place to the rear, to remove the original outside wc - see the last two photos below. meanwhile the building was extended and transformed to include a new workshop, a courtyard entrance with boot room and utility. the living room and kitchen became open plan and feature a walk-in pantry with routes back to the main house

the extended over-sailing roof on the rear is to prevent overheating in the summer for the south facing rooms
