this house was built in 1900 by a master builder of Northampton, and my clients were only the second family to own it. 120 years later the couple also ran their own master building firm, and managed the project to completion using their own team

partial demolition works took place to the rear, to remove the original outside wc - see the last two photos below. meanwhile the building was extended and transformed to include a new workshop, a courtyard entrance with boot room and utility. the living room and kitchen became open plan and feature a walk-in pantry with routes back to the main house

the extended over-sailing roof on the rear is to prevent overheating in the summer for the south facing rooms
